I realised today that I haven’t blogged in a while. So selfish and unkind of me. Apologies dear reader.

Today, April 18, 2015 Zimbabwe celebrates 35 years of being an independent nation. We find ourselves on the cusp of adulthood (Zim constitution states on is a youth from 15-35).

A lot has transpired in 35 years in the more recent of those a lot to be disgruntled over. But we are still here, some are amazed at how.

I think it is a testament to the strength of Zimbabweans. To value peace and life that we have managed to avoid violent conflict as best we can.

On this day of independence let us celebrate that important victory one at Lancaster House. Let us not underestimate what it means to be independent despite the situation not being what we might have hoped for.

Let us strive for continual decolonisation of our minds and recapturing the Zimbabwean narrative. Let us work together as the people of Zimbabwe to build a consciousness and resolve against systems of oppression.

This House of Stone belongs to us. Let us cherish and work together to make it the magnificent home for us that it can be.

Happy Independence Day Zimbabwe
